by Marian Krueger, in category Destinations, US Virgin Islands

Many Eastern Caribbean cruises stop in St. Thomas at one of the two cruise ports, either Crown Bay or Havensight.  If you’re lucky enough to dock at Havensight and have no plans, you should at least get off the ship and do a little duty free shopping.  Whether you’re looking for name brand items or… Read More

Sailboats at Long Bay | St. Thomas, USVI

by Marian Krueger, in category Destinations, US Virgin Islands

While docked in St. Thomas recently on the Norwegian Getaway, I noticed an enormous number of sailboats all around the area.  Our ship was docked at Havensight, which sits off Long Bay.  The other dock in St. Thomas is Crown Bay, which you can see in the second picture above.  Usually the much larger ships… Read More

Taking a Moment to Stop and Smell (and Photograph) Flowers in St. Thomas, USVI

by Marian Krueger, in category Destinations, US Virgin Islands

No need to tell me I’m not like other people as believe me, I know that already. But seriously, while most people are busy snapping photos of their family, monuments, and landmarks, I’m usually off wandering about snapping pictures of random items like cars, dogs or cats, and even flowers.  I can’t help myself!  If… Read More

The Origins of My Love for Travel

by Marian Krueger, in category Interviews

Never underestimate the power of the written word.  I was thinking about this only yesterday and I realized that I might have become curious about the world and travel around the same time that I started cooking.  How’s that possible?  As a young girl with three older sisters who were far too cool for me… Read More

Locating the Dakota in the South of Iceland

by Marian Krueger, in category Destinations, Iceland

What happens when you take a free spirited American, give her a car, and set her loose in Iceland? She’ll take her rental car and drive pretty much anywhere. One place I wanted to drive to was to the abandoned wreck of a United States Navy airplane from the 1970’s called The Dakota. With no… Read More

The Norwegian Getaway offers a variety of accommodations for every type of traveler, from inside cabin to studio cabins for the solo traveler to suites in the ultra posh Haven.  I usually sail in a balcony, but for this sailing I was going old school and my stateroom selection was an inside cabin.  Read on… Read More
