Time for a Girlfriends Getaway to the USVI

by Marian Krueger, in category Destinations, US Virgin Islands

If you’re thinking of planning a girlfriends getaway, you should definitely consider the US Virgin Islands as your destination.  Not only is it easy to get to, but US citizens don’t need a passport, which means none of your friends can make excuses about not being able to go.  Tell them to pack their bag… Read More

Make Time for a Girlfriends Getaway to the US Virgin Islands

by Marian Krueger, in category Destinations, US Virgin Islands

We’ve all had that moment at one time or another where we’ve told our friends, “We need to get away for a weekend.”  Then life gets in the way of the best ideas somehow fall to the wayside while we pay our bills, go to work, and live basically for each and every weekend.  But… Read More

Port Review: Havensight Mall, St. Thomas, USVI

by Marian Krueger, in category Destinations, US Virgin Islands

Many Eastern Caribbean cruises stop in St. Thomas at one of the two cruise ports, either Crown Bay or Havensight.  If you’re lucky enough to dock at Havensight and have no plans, you should at least get off the ship and do a little duty free shopping.  Whether you’re looking for name brand items or… Read More

Sailboats at Long Bay | St. Thomas, USVI

by Marian Krueger, in category Destinations, US Virgin Islands

While docked in St. Thomas recently on the Norwegian Getaway, I noticed an enormous number of sailboats all around the area.  Our ship was docked at Havensight, which sits off Long Bay.  The other dock in St. Thomas is Crown Bay, which you can see in the second picture above.  Usually the much larger ships… Read More

Taking a Moment to Stop and Smell (and Photograph) Flowers in St. Thomas, USVI

by Marian Krueger, in category Destinations, US Virgin Islands

No need to tell me I’m not like other people as believe me, I know that already. But seriously, while most people are busy snapping photos of their family, monuments, and landmarks, I’m usually off wandering about snapping pictures of random items like cars, dogs or cats, and even flowers.  I can’t help myself!  If… Read More

Port Review: Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas | Norwegian Cruise Line

by Marian Krueger, in category Bahamas, Cruises, Destinations, Norwegian Cruise Line

All good things come to an end and so it was that May 22nd was to be my last port day on my 4-day cruise on the Norwegian Sky.  This was my first time to Norwegian Cruise Line‘s private island, Great Stirrup Cay, in the Bahamas.  Did you know that it was Norwegian Cruise Line… Read More

Port Review: Nassau, Bahamas While Onboard Norwegian Sky

by Marian Krueger, in category Bahamas, Destinations, Norwegian Cruise Line
Nassau

If you’re on your first cruise, you’re more likely than not on a cruise to the Bahamas with a compulsory stop in Nassau. While the Bahamas consists of over 700 islands, Nassau is a great place to be, one of the most frequented stops by tourists. The capital and largest city in the Bahamas, Nassau… Read More

Ship Spotting in Nassau, Bahamas

by Marian Krueger, in category Bahamas, Cruises

Sometimes when I arrive in a port of call, I’m more excited about the ships in port than the port itself. On my recent 4-night Bahamas cruise on the Norwegian Sky that left Miami on May 19, 2014, while in Nassau our ship wasn’t the only one in port that day.  If you ever want… Read More

Cruise Port Review Guide: Freeport, Bahamas | Norwegian Sky

by Marian Krueger, in category Bahamas, Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line
Freeport, Bahamas

On the first full day of my recent cruise on the Norwegian Sky, my first port day we stopped at Grand Bahamas Island, which is also known to tourists as Freeport, Bahamas. While experienced cruisers might not view this port as one on their bucket list, it’s still a port that shouldn’t be overlooked. After… Read More

Visiting Little San Salvador (Half Moon Cay) on MSC Divina | MSC Cruises

by Marian Krueger, in category Bahamas, Cruises, MSC Cruises

On my recent MSC Cruises on MSC Divina, one of our ports of call was Little San Salvador also known as Half Moon Cay.  This little island is one of the over 700 islands that comprise the Bahamas and is owned by Holland America cruise line, which is owned by Carnival Corporation.  The picture above shows the cabanas available for rental… Read More
