by Marian Krueger, in category Australia

Our first stop in Australia is Sydney and I’m so excited to be back. Our home away from home, Fred. Olsen Cruise Line’s Black Watch, arrived into Sydney in the early morning hours before we awoke. We docked at White Bay Cruise Terminal around 6:45 am and that made our arrival official. Preparing for Our… Read More

Video of Sydney Harbour at Sailaway Before departing Sydney for my 12-night New Zealand cruise on the Celebrity Solstice, it was time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the view. Sailing Out of Sydney on the Celebrity Solstice (and Martinis!)

by Marian Krueger, in category Celebrity Cruise

Sailing Out of Sydney Hidden under the clouds in Sydney Harbour is none other than the Celebrity Solstice.  On that grey and cold day, we were sailing out of Sydney finally.  We made our way onto the ship to begin our 12-night cruise to New Zealand.  For me personally, I was glad to be out… Read More

Leaving Sydney, But First Lindt Chocolate Café, Sephora, and the Rain

by Marian Krueger, in category Australia, Destinations, Shopping

On our last morning in Sydney as we prepared to leave on our cruise on the Celebrity Solstice, I didn’t want the rain to deter me from getting out and exploring before the cruise.  One of the areas I wanted to visit was the Lindt Chocolate Café in Martin Place and with an umbrella in… Read More

Sometimes all you want is a really good cup of coffee. Running Across Sydney Harbour Bridge | Sydney, Australia

by Marian Krueger, in category Australia, Destinations

On a bright and sunny day in Sydney, I decided to go for a run and take in the view from Sydney Harbour Bridge.  Just kidding!  As you can see, it was cold, grey, and gloomy, but I wasn’t about to let that stop me from grabbing my camera and going for a run. Most… Read More

Pancakes on the Rocks

Perhaps Sydney isn’t known for its pancakes, but does it matter? When you’re hungry, sometimes you’ll go to crazy lengths for a proper meal. On this particular day in Sydney, we headed straight for Pancakes on the Rocks after a morning run. As you can tell from the name, the restaurant is located in The Rocks in… Read More

Walking Around Sydney, Australia | The Rocks

by Marian Krueger, in category Australia, Destinations
The Rocks

On my previous trip to Sydney, I didn’t get a chance to walk The Rocks, a tourist precinct and historic area located on the southern shore of Sydney Harbour.  Since my hotel was nearby, it seemed natural to venture out to The Rocks on my first afternoon in Sydney. Löwenbräu Keller On this gorgeous day… Read More

by Marian Krueger, in category Australia, Hotels/Resorts

After flying 21 hours from Boston to Sydney and covering more than 10,000 miles in the air, when I arrived in Sydney I only had one thing on my mind and that was getting to my hotel.  I wanted (needed?) a shower, clean clothes, and food.  With bags in tow, I headed directly to my… Read More

While in Hanoi, I decided to get an industrial piercing at 1984 Tattoo & Piercing Studios after having some yummy vegan food nearby at The Veg. Hurt like hell afterwards, but is one of my favorites. Have you ever gotten a tattoo or piercing while traveling?

I stopped at the Instagram famous “Train Street” when I visited Hanoi in August of 2019. Only two short months later, the government shut the cafes down and access to Train Street on foot for tourists. But it looks like the tourism industry, which has suffered in Vietnam like most countries, is pushing back. So if you’ve ever wanted your own selfie on Train Street, act fast because no one knows how long it will remain open.
