Liebster Blog Award
An award you say? Sonja from The {Happy} Travel Bug (@HappyHoyt on Twitter) nominated me for the Liebster Blog Award, which is a blogger’s way of saying “You’re one of my favorites! Good job!” (Liebster is German for “favorite”). Thank you, Sonja!
The Liebster Blog Award rules are fairly simple and straightforward:
- When you receive the award, you post 11 random facts about yourself and answer 11 questions from the person who nominated you.
- Pass the award onto other blogs (make sure you tell them you nominated them!) and ask them 11 questions.
- You are not allowed to nominate the blog who nominated you!
- Include a link to the person who nominated you & let them know about your post
11 random facts about me. Please don’t nod off because believe me, I will know.
1. Unlike most people, I like to move and can’t stand the thought of having to live in the same place too long.
2. I cut coupons and use them regularly. There… I’ve said it so don’t judge me. (Just kidding, but really I do use coupons!)
3. I have an above average sense of smell, something like that of a drug sniffing dog. I can smell someone smoking across the street or in another car and if someone is wearing too much perfume or cologne it makes me cringe.
4. Beets are my least favorite vegetable (they run onto everything else on your plate) and grapefruit is my least favorite fruit.
5. I can’t stand food like pudding or yogurt because of the texture. I prefer crunchy food.
6. To help me relax before I go to sleep, I play at least one game of Bejeweled Blitz on my iPad.
7. My husband and son think I’m crazy, but if I see someone driving the same make and model of my car, I will wave at them. Sometimes people do wave back, so there!

8. I call Adam Levine of Maroon 5 “my TV husband.” Mr. TSG doesn’t mind and apparently, neither does Adam.
9. Despite what some may think because I constantly post pictures about drinks, I usually only drink when I travel and not at home.
10. One of my biggest fears is of losing my teeth. Hate that dream when your teeth fall out, too.
11. I never wear a watch so don’t bother asking me what time it is. I live on “my time,” but I do arrive on time wherever I need to go and will always wake up before the time I set on my alarm.
11 Questions from Sonja, who nominated me:
1. If you could travel any where in the world and money was no object, where would you go and why? Now I thought this would be an easy question to answer, but it isn’t. It’s like asking someone to make three wishes so I am going to have to be creative. I would want to take a world cruise that would allow me to travel the world and see as much as I could of it at a leisurely pace. Not very specific, but I realize as time goes by that although I travel often, there is so much of the world I haven’t seen.
2. Best meal you’ve ever had? Another difficult one. I would say the dinner I had at Tutto Bene in St. Croix was one that I had in the past few years that sticks out as extremely memorable. From the Three Tomato Salad to the Housemade Sweet Potato and Goat Cheese Ravioli, the food was insanely good and I can’t wait to go back again.
3. What’s your favorite post on your blog? Link it. I would probably say that How I Roll – The ABCs of Travel, which Karla from Travellersoul76 invited me to do, is one of my favorites because I revealed more about myself in that post than I usually do. I love creating the posts that I put up on my blog and although they aren’t always the easiest to write and sometimes I may not feel motivated to do so, I enjoy looking over not only where I’ve traveled, but also what I have written.
4. Favorite cruise line? Too hard to say! This changes constantly as I change, but I currently am terribly fond of Celebrity Cruises. As I cruise more and experience more ships, this could change.
5. Favorite candy? I love (way too much) Pretzel M&M’s, which I can’t get near because they are so addictive. However, if I am going to splurge, I will choose a Mahalo from Go Max Go Foods, which is a vegan version of an Almond Joy.
6. Who would you want to play you in a movie about your life? Since it would be a musical (of course), then I would need an actress who not only acts, but also sings. I’m going to pick the super cute and quirky Zooey Deschanel.
7. Favorite quote or saying? “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” Henry David Thoreau
8. What would your super power be? My super power would be to have insane metabolism so I would never gain weight or worry about what I eat. That’s a super power I could actually use!
9. Favorite smell? That’s super tough. Newborn babies smell so good, but so do freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and fresh lilacs.
10. If you had to live in a decade other than this one, which one would you choose? I would probably pick the 1940’s, but only if I could live as a Hollywood starlet. I know that life for ordinary women during that time was filled with work and children, but I like the idea of being a glamorous Hollywood actress discovering who she is during that time and the world around her. Fashion was amazing during that time and life did seem simpler. Quirkiness and individuality were appreciated as opposed to everyone needing and wanting to look like everyone else.
11. How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are? Sixteen for sure! Ask anyone who knows me and they probably agree I act that age, too. Not all of the time, but I do feel like it much of the time.
