While the MSC Yacht Club is considered a “private oasis of luxury and amenities,” it’s the Top Sail Lounge that could be considered social central. It’s here that you can meet up with friends, old and new, and have a drink, relax, and take in the view.
The MSC Yacht Club is located forward on the MSC Preziosa with the Top Sail Lounge situated on deck 15 near the Concierge Reception area. You’ll always find plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy the view while sipping on a cocktail. I loved running down to the Top Sail Lounge after spending the day in port and grabbing a cocktail and a quick bite. It was never packed but for the last morning of the cruise. Disembarkation day was a bit crazy as you have to exit your suite and wait in the Top Sail Lounge, which while big, was never meant to accommodate every guest of the MSC Yacht Club. You’re then escorted off the ship according to your suitcase tags. But for this one situation, the rest of the time it was an absolute pleasure to frequent the Top Sail Lounge.
TSG Tip: There is an emergency exit door on deck 15 that you would think you shouldn’t open. However, this is a back entry into the Top Sail Lounge so you don’t have to go through the Concierge Reception Area. The alarm doesn’t go off and it’s perfectly acceptable to use this door for entry or exit into the Top Sail Lounge.
Let’s say you’re hungry, but you don’t want to leave the MSC Yacht Club or your suite. Don’t worry as the Top Sail Lounge will have you covered no matter what time of day. Here’s an example of what’s available and when in the Top Sail Lounge:
7:00 – 11:00 Continental Breakfast
12:00 – 16:00 Snack
16:00 – 17:00 High tea
18:00 – 22:00 Apéritif
22:00 – 2:00 Sweet temptation (fruits & petit four)
High tea was a nice surprise one afternoon as it included table side service from one of the butlers in full dress including those spotless white gloves. Scones, sandwiches, and sweets were included in the tea tray as well. I passed on the meat sandwiches, obviously, but it was a beautiful set up and something nice to experience at least once while on the cruise.
Cocktail time! I’ve been known to want to work my way through the cocktail list and I did try it on MSC Preziosa. While I had a glass of wine with dinner on most nights, I stuck with a few of my favorites in the Top Sail Lounge. These included a Margarita, a Caipirinha, and a Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri.
What will it be today? A Long Island Iced Tea or a Bloody Mary? Want to see what drinks are available in the Top Sail Lounge? This is the complete menu in English, which is also the same menu you’ll find at The One Bar.
You may think this is just another bar on another cruise ship, but it’s not. Besides the great view, top notch service, and convenient proximity to our suite, having everything included in our cruise fare was nothing short of spectacular. Granted, these days you can pretty much purchase one of the all you can drink packages although I’m fairly positive the cruise lines don’t promote them that way. But when you look at the overall benefits of sailing in the Yacht Club, you can see that this is one of the many reasons why a cruise in a suite on the MSC Yacht Club is well worth it. If you’re thinking of experiencing a more luxury driven vacation, consider one of the Fantasia-class ships like the MSC Preziosa from MSC Cruises for your next cruise.
