Breakfast at Hotel Drei Raben | Nuremberg, Germany

Confession time: Waking up after less than five hours of sleep was brutal.  One might say inhumane or even the equivalent of torture.  Ok, perhaps I exaggerate.  After a great evening in Nuremberg and then returning to Hotel Drei Raben, I had hoped to wake up in a brighter and happier mood.

Granted, I had an incredible few hours of sleep in my super comfortable bed, but jetlag was trying to make me its bitch and I wasn’t going to have any of that.  I knew I needed to shake myself out of my funk, get up, and get out to explore the wonderful city of Nuremberg.  It’s not the first time I’ve felt this sense of dread when traveling so I knew I’d to remind myself that yes –  I will enjoy myself once I get moving.  Needless to say, after three cappuccinos in the lounge and breakfast at Hotel Drei Raben, I was feeling like my old self in no time.

My room rate included the bountiful breakfast buffet, which included made to order egg dishes, if you’re into that sort of thing.  We’re talking a huge spread of fresh food including muesli, breads, cheeses, meats, cereal, eggs, and more.  You can’t leave here feeling hungry.  It’s just not possible.

Breakfast at Hotel Drei RabenFor my breakfast, I chose some cheese (protein) and muesli with nuts (more protein).  That and the unlimited supply of cappuccinos the staff was willing to serve up to me, no questions asked.  With my belly full and my eyelids now staying propped up on their own, I was definitely feeling better.

Breakfast at Hotel Drei RabenRemember the hotel’s funky CocktailBAR RABENwein? During the day it becomes the casual breakfast dining area where you can sit and enjoy your meal or linger over that third cappuccino.  Unlike big hotels that are trying to rush you out so they can get someone to fill your seat, the staff in no way pressures you to move along.  The breakfast served in a casual and relaxed atmosphere at Hotel Drei Raben feels like a warm German hug from your oma telling you to sit and stay just a few more minutes.

Danke schön Hotel Drei Raben for the flowing cappuccinos and friendly welcome throughout my stay.

No need to rush out the door after breakfast, but if you want to go out and explore, that’s where I’m headed next.
