Time for another affordable luggage review, but this isn’t your regular luggage review. iFLY Admiral luggage is strong, lightweight luggage that’s affordably priced. Why spend more when you can get the same type of luggage as the high end models at a much more affordable price?
I had a chance to take a look up close and experience iFLY Admiral luggage for myself. We all know how the images on websites sometimes show one thing, but then when you get the product in your hand, it’s something completely different. Would the iFLY Admiral be a winner in my book or merely another luggage disappointment?
Admiral 28″ Large Luggage
For the purpose of this affordable luggage review, I ordered the iFLY Admiral 28″ luggage.
The website describes the features of their Admiral luggage as follows:
• Lifetime warranty
• Scratch resistant
• Removable garment suiter
• Integrated TSA accepted lock
• Removable laundry bag
• Three full zip main interior compartments
• Wet pocket
• Rubber grip trolley handle
• Soft gel carry handles
• Expansion zipper adds 2” depth
• Four electroplated 360° double wheels
• Three sets of tie-down straps to keep all your clothes in place
Why’d I request such a large piece of luggage? As I prepare for my world cruise in January, I knew I’d need more than a carry on and wanted something strong, safe, and secure.
The Admiral Arrives!
I unpacked the Admiral from it’s large cardboard box and stood it up immediately for a photo op. Isn’t it pretty? The Admiral is much more than good looks. This is a great piece of strong and affordable luggage, too.
Weighing only 13.4 lbs and measuring 28″ x 18.25″ x 13″ + 2″ expansion, the Admiral hard sided rolling suitcase includes a lifetime warranty (that’s right – lifetime!), it’s scratch resistant, has a rubber grip trolley handle, soft gel carry handles, and four electroplated 360° double wheels.
Having a bag with 360° double wheels makes it easier to change direction and double wheels are just better. More wheels on a bag mean less load on each individual wheel and my guess is that improves overall durability.
Who doesn't want a little more room in their bag at the end of a trip? It's kind of like that uncle we all have at Thanksgiving who insists on unbuttoning that top button on his pants at the table because he ate too much. Click To TweetI immediately liked the fact that there’s also a zipper expansion to allow for an extra 2″ all around. Who doesn’t want a little more room in their bag at the end of a trip? It’s kind of like that uncle we all have at Thanksgiving who insists on unbuttoning that top button on his pants at the table because he ate too much. Ok, maybe not exactly and maybe not the best picture to put in your head, but sometimes you just need a little more room after something spectacular, like Thanksgiving or a great vacation.
Inside
After placing the bag on the floor and zipping it open, the angels all chimed in and sang the glorious “New Bag Song,” as I admired the Admiral. Full disclosure: No actual angels sang and none were harmed in the making of this affordable luggage review.
After placing the bag on the floor and zipping it open, the angels all chimed in and sang the glorious 'New Bag Song,' as I admired the Admiral. Click To TweetEach side of the Admiral has a zipper closure, which I really like. Sometimes you get one side that can zip closed, so having two means my stuff isn’t going to flop around in transit. Plus three sets of long straps to hold in everything securely is also a nice touch. They even throw in a matching laundry bag.
On the left side of the Admiral are two zippered pockets with one for wet items, as well as a longer zipped around pocket. Inside this pocket is where you can pack and insert the removable garment suiter.
The garment suiter or garment bag allows you to pack those things like suits or dresses that you want to pack and keep separate. Upon arrival to your destination, simply unpack the garment suiter and hang these items first.
The Lock
Doesn’t matter how nice a suitcase is if it gets broken into, which is why it’s imperative to have a good locking system on your bag. In this affordable luggage review of the Admiral 28″ rolling suitcase, I’ve detailed both the outside hard shell case as well as the interior. Now let’s take a look at the TSA approved locking system. Each of the zipper pulls fits into a recessed slot on the side of the bag. All you need to do is set the code and go. Plus, if you’re as OCD as I am, there’s also space to add on your own lock for extra security. We all know I will, too.
I've owned many pieces of luggage in my lifetime and I never knew what I was missing on zipper pulls until now. Click To TweetWhat I really like about the X Series Admiral‘s lock are those sleek and ergonomic zipper pulls. Take a look at them and while you might not be able to discern this since you can’t touch them, they feel so good in your hands. Like seriously – they fit right in like they were perfectly made for your hands. I’ve owned many pieces of luggage in my lifetime and I never knew what I was missing on zipper pulls until now.
Overall Thoughts
While some may believe all luggage is the same, I’ve always been of the belief that you get what you pay for in the end. If you buy cheap luggage, then you get cheap luggage. But my mindset has changed after trying out the iFLY X Series Admiral for this affordable luggage review.
- Strong, durable, high quality luggage shouldn’t cost you your entire paycheck.
- Luggage made today should reflect today’s user. The 20″ carry on bag includes a USB port to help you easily charge your electronics while on the go.
- A lifetime warranty assures you that the Admiral and the rest of the X Series was built to last forever. If it doesn’t, you can replace it under the lifetime warranty.
Pricing on Admiral luggage is as follows: 20″ Carry-On $99, 24″ Medium $119, 28″ Large $139, and the full set is $357.00. Not sure where to buy the Admiral? While you can always buy it on the iFLY website, did you know you can simply pop into your local Walmart and purchase one there? That’s what I call convenient.
I can’t wait to start packing for my trip and see how my Admiral 28″ holds up over a world cruise out of England. I have high hopes that the Admiral will live up to this affordable luggage review and my expectations. With iFLY‘s durable construction of this piece, I’m pretty sure I have nothing to worry about.
