There are three types of rooms available and in total there are 126 rooms. I stayed in one of the 96 Deluxe rooms at Canyon Ranch, room 279 on the second floor of the West Wing. The Deluxe room features a king or two queen beds, a desk, sitting area and separate vanities. Larger than some apartments I have lived in, the rooms are large, spacious, light, and airy. I felt overwhelmed to have such a large space all to myself for the first few minutes I was there and then I totally embraced this opportunity without a second thought. The finishes in the room are beautiful and well thought out, from the granite countertops to the drapes to the high end linen on the beds.
All rooms feature extensive amenities including:
- Mascioni® luxury Italian linens
- Terry cloth robes
- DVD, cable TV, stereo/CD player
- Mini-refrigerator
- Computer phone jack
- Wired or wireless Internet access
- In-room coffee and tea service
- Amenity products, including shampoo, conditioner and lotion
- Hair dryer
Having two separate vanity areas, a desk with free Internet access, two large closets, lots and lots of storage space include an abundance of drawer space in the dressers and in the bathroom as well as hanging storage, I can easily see more than one or two people enjoying their stay in a Deluxe room. Quite often women will make a stay at Canyon Ranch a “girlfriends getaway” and there is absolutely no reason why three or four women couldn’t share this large room. Considering the proximity to the Spa Complex, if sharing one bathroom was too overwhelming, one could always shower and get ready over there. Alternatively, the room is a great size for just a couple and they do offer king size beds in the deluxe room. I loved the filtered water for making coffee and having a refrigerator in my room in case I brought back something from the dining room that I wanted to keep cold. The DVD player with access to an extensive DVD collection containing recent movies as well as classics, TV shows, and documentaries was also a nice touch.
With only three types of room options available, I was able to tour the other two types during my stay. Besides the Deluxe room, there is also the Executive King rooms, which are centrally located between the spa complex and the Inn and feature king beds, spacious seating area, large desk space, extra closet space and more. With only six of these rooms available, these are probably highly sought after so if you were interested in one, you should probably book early especially during high demand times like the fourth of July. With the annual James Taylor concert at Tanglewood, Canyon Ranch embraces visitors to the Berkshires, while offering them something different from a regular hotel stay.
The final room type is the suite, which is one that is traditionally popular amongst friends and family members traveling together. Luxury Suites include a king or two twin beds, adjoining living room, two bathrooms and washer/dryer. Although there is self-serve laundry facilities on the first floor of the East Wing and on the second floor of the West Wing, having a washer and dryer right in your suite is a nice touch. Some of the 24 Luxury Suites offer a Murphy bed while others have a sofa bed in addition to the separate bedroom. With two large bathrooms, everyone can be happy and comfortable. By having a separate living area, it can be a nice place to sit and relax at the end of the day.
In the interest of full disclosure, Canyon Ranch invited me to visit their property and paid for my stay except for the additional treatments and services I received.
Looks like a great place to unwind. How do you get invites to stuff like this? Do you seek it out or the other way around?
