Day 6 Onboard Viking Atla in Vienna, Austria
Can you believe I had the opportunity to wake up in Vienna, Austria today? This is day 6 onboard Viking Atla in Vienna, Austria with Viking River Cruises. Just look at that skyline and sunrise. Amazing!
If you’re standing along the Danube River, this might be the view you’d have of all of the many river cruise ships all lined up in row. While I knew there were longships docked here, I had no idea of the number of ships in port until daytime.
My view, however, was that of another Viking River Cruises ship docked alongside us. Makes me laugh when I think about waking up, no makeup on and hair looking kind of scruffy, pulling back the curtains, and then saying “Good Morning” and literally being able to shake hands with your neighbor from the ship next door. Talk about close quarters! But remember, this is how longships on a river cruise can get you into destinations their larger ocean ship counterparts could never imagine attempting.
After showering and getting dressed, Karla and I made our way to breakfast. Every day I knew I could get up and find something delicious to eat from the vegetarian friendly breakfast spread which includes an abundant mix of fruit, cheese, and so much more (someone say sparking line?)
For those carnivores among us who also enjoy eggs at breakfast, don’t forget to stop by Mario’s station and ask for a freshly made omelet. If you’re not in the mood for eggs, you can choose from the fresh baked goods, sliced meat and cheese, or muesli and yogurt. There’s always more than enough to choose from and no possible way to go hungry onboard Viking Atla.
We finished breakfast quickly because today was all about exploring Vienna. That’s how I spent the morning of Day 6 Onboard Viking Atla in Vienna, Austria.
Up next: Sightseeing in Vienna!
I was a guest of Viking River Cruises for this cruise, but as always — all opinions and photographs are my own.
