No two people are alike and as such, so are their reasons for cruising. Although I can think of many explanations as to why I cruise, here are only a few of the reasons why I love to cruise.
- I love being able to take a family vacation where my son can make friends on the ship, we can then regroup as a family, but also have lots of romantic alone time together.
- Cruising allows me to sample different places without having to commit to any of them. If I don’t like where I am (which rarely happens!) I can simply get back on the ship.
- Cruising allows us to be a “tech free” family for the time we are on board. For us that means no computers, phones, iPads, or anything else electronic. It’s amazing how great the conversation can be without the interruption of an email, text, or phone call.
- We all love trying new food and nothing is better when trying new food than not having to worry about the bill at the end of a meal.
- My husband loves the ability to transform into another person while on a cruise. He can assume the role of “big time gambler” or anything else he chooses. It’s fun to pretend to be someone else every once in awhile.
- I like being able to prepay gratuities and excursions before our cruise even begins and not worry about how much the bill will be at the end of the cruise. I don’t know about you, but the stress of a big bill at the end of vacation can really limit the amount of fun I might have while on vacation.
- Meeting so many new and different people including the staff on the ship, other cruisers, and people in the ports where we visit. Your world gets larger every time you travel and talk to others.
- Forcing yourself to try new and different things everywhere you go is fun and exciting from ziplining to parasailing and so on. We are so cautious in our everyday lives so it’s fun to step out of our comfort zones and try new things.
- There is nothing like the excitement of boarding a new ship or even a new cruise line. If you love that new car smell, imagine that times 1000 on a new ship!
- Relaxing. Yes, I can relax on a land vacation in a resort somewhere, but relaxing in a chair on the balcony of our stateroom is like nothing else in this world. You feel like the ship is all your own and the ocean in front of you is all yours as well.
Bill Gibson from Wanderabouts inspired me with his blog post on The Top 10 Reasons We LOVE to Cruise to write today’s blog. What are some of your reasons for cruising? We’d love to hear what you have to say!
