Edible Denver: Visiting The Giving Tree Denver

Did you think I would travel to Denver and not check out what Denver is known for these days (i.e., Edible Denver)? Walking into a recreational dispensary may seem strange to some, especially if you’re by yourself, but I was ridiculously curious. With over 320 dispensaries currently open in Denver, how was I going to chose which one to visit? Usually, my group of friends grow their own cannabis with the help of the seeds available at i49.net/ontario/, so I wasn’t used to edible forms, but I was excited to try something new and see what all the fuss was about.

In case you don’t already know, there are medical and recreational dispensaries in Denver and although you might think they’re the same, they’re not. There are medical marijunana dispensaries located around the states, to allow a larger number of people access to products that will help any medical needs they have. By looking into something like il dispensaries list, you’ll be able to find a store closest to you. Not everyone can manage to travel miles for their medicine, which is why dispensaries are put into place. Medical marijuana dispensaries require customers to be medical marijuana patients registered with the State of Colorado and in possession of a valid ‘red card.’ If you don’t have a red card, don’t worry as you can still visit a recreational dispensary. Colorado isn’t the only state that has dispensaries, there are places like this in all states where marijuana is now legal, for example, there are places like ohio dispensary locations for those who live in and around live around area.

After reading the online reviews of the many recreational dispensaries in Denver I decided to visit The Giving Tree Denver. Why? Because of its great feedback on Yelp, but also because the owner, Adam, is also from Massachusetts. The’ve been serving medical patients since 2009 and recreational users since 2014 with a strong belief in the positive, medicinal properties of cannabis, they strive to offer the highest quality flower, edibles, topicals, and concentrates to patients.

Waiting area inside the Giving Tree of Denver

When you enter a dispensary or recreational storefront in Denver, you’ll notice that it kind of looks like a doctor’s office with a waiting room. Walk up to the glass window and present your photo ID to the person behind the window. They’ll look over your ID to verify that you’re over 21 and then they’ll inform you about the wait time to enter the store itself. When I entered, there was no one waiting so my wait time was only about a minute or two.

Then I was buzzed into the back and my budtender, Kevin, was there to assist me. One side is the recreational store and the other is the medicinal side but I kept to the recreational side. Think of the budtenders as something similar to baristas at Starbucks, but with way less attitude and far more knowledge. They’re like weed sommeliers as they know more about their product than anyone else and are excited to share what they know with their customers, including but certainly not limited to edibles.

TSG Tip: Why would someone want edibles? While weed is legal in Colorado, there aren’t any coffeeshops in Denver like in Amsterdam and smoking in public isn’t allowed. As a result, many choose vaping or edibles as a way to combat the whole smoking in public issue, thereby making this city, “Edible Denver.” If you want to order edibles from the comfort of your home, you can buy cannabis edibles online.

As I was curious about edibles, I asked Kevin about what they had in stock. You can’t even begin to understand the vast amount of product that they have that is meant for ingestion and not just product for smoking or vaping. We’re talking crackers, cookies, candy bars, chocolate, gummy candy, lollipops, mints, and even soda and “cannapunch.” Not sure what you want or what’s right for you? Just ask and you’ll be given information and instructions on how exactly to consume your edibles.and understood.

TSG Tip: The State of Colorado recommends 10mg of THC as one dose. All recreational edibles will, by law, be dosed in clearly marked 10mg or lower serving sizes. Start with one. You can eat more, but you can’t eat less.

Before you leave, you’ll be asked if you have an “exit” bag. Not sure what that is?

In Colorado marijuana storage containers and bags must be tested as child-safe and according to the Colorado Department of Revenue, child resistant means special packaging that is
a) designed or constructed to be significantly difficult for children under five years of age to open,
b) opaque so that the contents cannot be seen throughthe packaging,
c) closable for any product intended for more than a single use, or containing multiple servings

Exit bags aren’t free and since they’re legally required for customers to purchase certain products, you should expect the additional cost of the bag to be passed onto you. The good news is that you can hold onto your exit bag and reuse it over and over. Just remember to bring it with you to avoid the extra fee.

Once your items are bagged, you pay the total, either in cash or with a debit card, and you can take your items and leave. On the way out I noticed the map on the wall with pins from the patrons of The Giving Tree Denver. I was then told the map was only three weeks old. I don’t think that the legalization of marijuana, weed, cannabis, or whatever you want to call it is going away any time soon.

I’m so glad that my curiosity got the better of me and I went in and looked around. If you’re a newbie to dispensaries, nervous about making a purchase, or want guidance on your purchase, I highly recommend visiting The Giving Tree Denver because they are professionals who will absolutely take care of you and make you feel comfortable throughout your entire purchase.

  1. We’ll be in Denver next month and we’ll make sure to visit The Giving Tree Denver. My husband has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and has been using medicated cannabis for quite sometime now.

  2. Wow, this is awesome! It sounds like a great dispensary, and it looks so cute from the outside! Very cool! Thanks so much for putting this info out there!

  3. The description of the edibles sounds incredibly seductive. With the chocolates, cookies, crackers, and more, The Giving Tree Denver has plenty of opportunities to market their edibles according to holidays and gift giving themes.

  4. A fantastic post, Marian! The edibles look tempting and the storefront gives a friendly vibe. I’ll surely be having a look around the next time I’m there.
